On Friday, February 12th, Roz and JayBee met with the Tween and Teen Girls of Eugene Butler Middle school to deliver not only toiletries, but motivation and inspiration as well.
Roz arrived with 100+ Valentine themed gift bags filled with personal hygiene items and candy, donated by U.S. G.I.R.L.S. and guests at the most recent meeting (Thank you, Ladies!!). The girls could barely contain their excitement as they entered the cafeteria for the assembly.
After the introductions by Principal Tamara Williams and Teacher, Megan Amaro; Roz told the audience about U.S. G.I.R.L.S. Book Club and our mission statement.
Next, JayBee presented a self-esteem, motivational segment entitled "Dare To Be Different" in which she encouraged the girls to be different and not conform to society's norm...never stop asking "questions" and to take chances. She closed the session with the girls commitment to be the best they could be as they chanted in unison..."Dare To Be Different!!"
Throughout the week, Roz, her daughter, Bri and member, Val assembled the
gift bags to be distributed. Roz began the distribution by awarding specialty designed bags to the 15 honor roll students, after which, the remaining girls filed through the line, and Roz hugged each and every one. The room "oozed" with love and appreciation as they began dis-assembling their bags.
The principal, and staff thanked U.S. G.I.R.L.S. for their generosity - To quote Roz, this initative was a labor of love, and it feels so good!!
